Standby-generator maintenance and service

A standby generator is expected to operate when utility power is unavailable. Scheduled maintenance helps keep the system ready and identifies developing issues before an outage.

Maintenance planning

Service matched to the equipment and operating conditions.

Maintenance needs vary by manufacturer, model, run time, environment and service history. Tri-Volt can review the installed system and recommend an appropriate service approach.

  • Visual condition and installation review
  • Battery and starting-system checks

Maintenance FAQ

Keep the system ready

How often should a standby generator be serviced?

Follow the manufacturer’s model-specific maintenance schedule and account for run time and operating conditions. Tri-Volt can review the system and recommend the next service interval.

Does an exercise cycle replace maintenance?

No. Automatic exercise helps demonstrate that the unit can start, but it does not replace inspection and scheduled service.

Can Tri-Volt maintain a system installed by another contractor?

Contact us with the model, installation date and service history. The system must be reviewed before service scope is confirmed.
